Definition: A guild is a group of players that regularly participate in a game together. Usually the game puts some sort of tag in the player's name to indicate what guild they belong to. Some guilds cater to specific classes or types of roleplay. Guilds are similar to clans, except that where clans are formed to play FPSes, guilds are formed to play RPGs. MMORPGs generally have guild systems have been integrated right into the game to make it easier for players to get into groups and socialize, or compete with other guilds.
