AMD Aims to Simplify Buying a PC
Monday May 19, 2008
AMD has announced a new initiative to make it easier for consumers to find a PC suitable for gaming. Essentially it amounts to slapping an AMD GAME! logo on AMD-based machines that are up to the task of running the latest games. This is probably a step in the right direction, although I suspect people would like more assurances that a system they buy today is going to perform reasonably well running games that come out six months or a year from now. Of course, AMD is also part of the PC Gaming Alliance, an industry-wide effort to make PC gaming more accessible. How does AMD GAME! fit into the big picture? Shack News has an interview Brent Barry from AMD where he goes into more detail about what they're trying to accomplish.
