Eve Online Gets Mac and Linux Support

Tuesday November 6, 2007
Eve Online Screenshot The latest update for Eve Online makes it a little easier for gamers without Windows to enjoy this popular sci-fi MMORPG. According to the patch notes, Revelations 2.3, which went live today, includes support for both Mac OS X and Linux. Downloads for both OSes are now available, but it's worth noting that they are not native clients, they are actually the Windows version running under Transgaming's Cider for Mac or Cedega for Linux. So, if you're already running Eve on Linux using Cedega or Wine, you won't see much benefit. Cider certainly seems to make it easier for Mac gamers with Intel-based machines to get in on the action, as a number of big PC titles appear to be heading to OS X using Transgaming's software.
