First DirectX 10 Video Cards Arrive
Thursday November 9, 2006
I didn't really think we'd find DirectX 10 cards on the market before next year, but nVidia has launched their new GeForce 8800 chipset and proven me wrong. Hardware sites like AnandTech are already seeing how the cards stack up under DX9, and we appear to be on the precipice of another huge leap forward in graphics processing power. In some games a single 8800 GTX is outperforming dual 7900 GTX cards configured in SLI mode. It should get even better for those who want to upgrade to Windows Vista and DX10 in late January. Of course, your wallet will take quite a hit if you want to be among the early adopters.
