Documentary to Explore Gold Farming

Over on YouTube there is a revealing preview of an upcoming documentary on gold farming shops operating out of China. The sale of in-game items and currency for real money is a growing phenomenon in MMORPGs. It's particularly attractive in countries where the cost of living is low and good-paying jobs are hard to come by. The documentary is being made by Ge Jin, a PhD student from UCSD.
