Institute for Virtual World Research Formed

Dr. Edward Castronova, a well-known writer and researcher of online world economics, has founded The Arden Institute at Indiana University. The mandate of the Institute is to promote innovative research on synthetic worlds, and possibly use such worlds to learn more about the mechanics of real societies. They will also hold an annual conference, and the proceedings of the first conference are now available on the site.
