World of Warcraft Trojan Alert
Saturday October 8, 2005
People who play World of Warcraft and also use Internet Explorer to surf the Web need to take extra care to ensure that their game account isn't stolen. There has recently been a rash of stolen account information resulting from a trojan that is spread through a rogue advertisement that has appeared on some game sites. The trojan installs a keyboard logger on your system and relays your username and password to a foreign server. This WoW forum thread has instructions on how to find out if you've been infected, and how to protect yourself from this sort of thing. The ad takes advantage of vulnerability in IE that was patched quite a while ago, so as long as you keep it up to date, you should be okay.

Yeah, the post is almost a year old. They delete threads from the WoW forums after a while. I’m sure that there’s no need to worry about that particular trojan anymore.
I’m not sure if it was the same Trojan but someone installed a trojan and keylogger onto my computer last Sunday and stole my level 70 T4+ druid, sold all his gear (and the gear of my alts) and used my character to farm items to seel. This is still happening.
