Second Life Relay for Life

Sunday August 21, 2005
Walk-a-thons in real life have proven to be a good way to raise money for charity, so the American Cancer Society has hooked up with Second Life to see if a virtual walk-a-thon might produce similar results. "It's a volunteer-driven effort to hold an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event in the Second Life world. It's a walk-a-thon in cyberspace, where participants donate money and walk a track built in Second Life." The New York Times has a story on the event. Cool idea, but isn't it simply a matter of hitting the "auto-run" button? (Thanks Blue's News.)
