BF2 on a GeForce 4?

Monday June 27, 2005
There's an interesting rant on Popular Technology about Battlefield 2's lack of support for GeForce 4 video cards, even though slower cards, such as the Radeon 8500, will run the game. The reason for this is that GeForce 4 cards are not compatible with Pixel Shader 1.4. It's a curious requirement, given that, as the article points out, some 20 percent of Half-Life 2 players are still using cards from the Pixel Shader 1.3 era. The community is already working on a do-it-yourself solution, but could it be that nVidia wants people to upgrade? BF2 just arrived in the mail here today. I don't anticipate any problems, but wish me luck anyway.
