Rent a MMOG Character

Friday June 24, 2005
It can take a long time to reach the highest levels of a MMORPG, but there are a growing number of ways to accelerate the process with your wallet. Although people have been selling game accounts and currency for a long time now, a new service called GamePal is offering to rent advanced characters to anyone willing to pay the price. As you can see from the story on Wired, at $130 a month, it's not exactly cheap, even though you get access to 14 different games. While it's debatable how bad this is for gameplay, I can't imagine that it doesn't violate the terms of service these games have.

It turns out they now offer an hourly rental service… Pretty interesting.
