Unreal II Expands Multiplayer

Friday December 5, 2003
Atari is adding more multiplayer features to Unreal II in response to requests from fans of this popular FPS. XMP (Expanded Multiplayer) mode will be part of the Unreal II: The Awakening – Special Edition package, and will be made available to current owners of Unreal II as a free download. "The all new XMP mode is a class-based multiplayer game where teams use vehicles, cooperation and Unreal II: The Awakening’s devastating weaponry to battle it out across large-scale terrain maps. Teams fight for control of energy sources to power their war machines, deployment points to get to the front lines quickly, and ultimately, four artifacts that are required to win each match." They've also released a demo (149 MB) of these new capabilities, which you can find on 3DGamers, FilePlanet, FileShack, IGN, and Worthplaying.
